WOW! Finally Shifted!

Phew!!!! We have finally shifted! We are now quite organize in our new church building in which the Lord has provided for us..It has really been a very hectic and busy time for me for the past few months. However, it has also been a very fruitful experience and a great learning curve!

We got news from our former church landlord that he needs the premise back during the early 2nd half of this year. We had to move..this time, for real. I started informing my leaders first and we prayed and started to keep on a look out for a suitable place and location. Initially, I was really concern and wondering to myself..I've not been in this kind of decision making phase in my life before. This is my first time after being in the ministry. How do I know where God would want us to be? Where should I start looking? How will I know if the place we identify will be God's will?

There were lots of questions in my mind..Will I be able to lead the entire church with my leaders in this next important and crucial decision in such a limmited time? I started praying and driving around Melaka -drove around for weeks and prayed: asking God for directions and guidance..Viewed a few places and did some enquiries..Yet, deep inside my heart, I was wanting and hoping that God will continue to put the church in the same area..Afterall we have been here for quite a while and the community is aware of our existence..However, as a leader in the making, I've learnt that I need to be open and be ready to explore new opportunites and options..

Well, we finally found a suitable place with the leading and grace of God. All of us in the leadership felt that this was the right place. Boy! Was I excited! Why???! The new location is in the same community and in fact, I felt that it was at a better, visible spot! After the negotiation of the price and some final details and planning, we embark on the 2nd part of this exciting journey - renovation
As I'm not a technical person at all, this entire renovation has been very challenging for me. I had to pick up and learn new technical skills, with the help of my able and fantastic group of leaders - had to make many decisions along the way..Overseeing the renovation and speaking to the different people involved was really a great learning experience for me! Wow! I count it such a priviledge and honor to be able to take on this new challenge and grow along the way..

It took us almost 2 months to complete the renovation process. The next thing that I had to do was to start planning for the the shifting of the entire church from the old building to our new one.. This was really indeed a physical challenge for both me and my c0-worker.. We were both ladies and the initial shifting of the little and lighter stuffs were really draining for both of us physically..In our new premise, we had to climb more steps. But, we praise God for a group of housewifes who took turns to come and help us pack and shift whenever they could.

The big day of shifting was fixed on the 9th of this month, where the entire church both young and old came together for a complete shift.. It was really a great time! About 50 of us came together for this big day! Some of us formed a human chain in both buildings to shift, some helped with the cleaning and transportation. It took us from 9am - 4pm..We had great fun and laughter in the midst of serius work! Not only that, we all smelled from the sweat that was dripping down our entire bodies!

When everything was shifted to our new building, the work was still not yet completed. Lots of organization and arrangements had to be made. Once again, the members of Praise City Melaka came together especially the ladies from the ladies fellowship of our church! We did everything as fast as we could in order to prepare the new building for our first service on the 15th of Nov! We made it!

Praise City Melaka, I'm so proud of you! It's because of all our efforts and we work in such unity that this entire process of shifting to our present premise is possible! Though there were challenges and pressures along the way, sleepless nights for me but once again - we are able to celebrate the goodness and awesomeness of our God, who has given us so much of grace, strength and wisdom!

Fantastic! Bravo! Bravo! Praise City Melaka, I'm sooooooo proud of you!!!!!!

HAPPY! HAPPY! HAPPY!

It was really such a thrill and happy time for me yesterday! I received a call from one of my former youths who is now a young adult, married and going to be a daddy! He asked me out to 'yam cha'! Guess what?!! When he came and picked me, his wife and bro-in-law who were all my former youths were in the car...
We went for tim sum at 8.30pm..It was a really cool place and we had a great time of chatting - recalling the former times when they were younger and I was then just a fresh, new youth leader. Time has really flown!
The most amazing thing about this entire chat was that we were able to laugh and share from our hearts - regarding the fun, misunderstanding, rubbing of shoulders 5 years ago. We were now able to talk as mature young adults regarding our feelings at that time and the reason why we reacted so foolishly then....
But, today...we thank God for the moments that we had in rubbing shoulders when we were in our early teens..God has taught us individually and dealt with some of our attitudes. Those moments of lesson cannot be replaced with anything in the world! We went through the 'trimming' period under the hands of an expert gardener with so much of love, grace, forgiveness and restoration!
We ended our chat with a prayer..by then it was already 11.30pm! It was such joy and satisfaction for me - to see and to know that 'our labor in God is not in vain - 1 Cor 15:58'. This youths have now grown up to be young adults who love & serve Jesus with their whole hearts!
All Glory to God Almighty - who deserves our highest praises n service!

Suprise! Suprise! Suprise!

"Hi Pastor, the Ladies' Fellowship is booking you next Tuesday at 9am in the morning." I received this phone call just 1 week ago from one of my church leaders. At that point of time, without any further thought,I aggreed to it as they had just initiated a ladies fellowship 2 months ago and I was yet to attend and gave them my words of encouragement and support..
Lo and behold, when I arrived yesterday at the ladies fellowship, I was greeted with surprise birthday greetings and a party..It was indeed a surprise! I was caught unprepared. When greeted, by their warmth and love, my face was as red as a tomato..The table was not only filled with a widespread of food, but they even ordered my favourite american brownies from Secret Receipe as my birthday cake! Received some gifts as well! What an unexpected surprise! After a time of fellowship, hearing how each of them were blessed and encourage for the last 2 gatherings, I was given 5 minutes to share a word of encouragement to the ladies. As usual, I exceeded the time slot given. After the sharing, was the cutting cake ceremony. Wow! The vibrant ladies sang a birthday song accompanied by some actions! They then surrounded me and started to pray for me. What a day! What a prayer! I was so blessed by the way each and every single one of them prayed!
It was indeed a fruitful day for me..Received many sms-es from my leaders, members, youths and even from both my pastors in Kuala Lumpur. Not forgetting phone calls from my parents and siblings who are not in Melaka.Other than the surprise party in the morning, I was also taken out for dinner by one of my member and his family. We had a good time fellowshiping and enjoying each others' company.
Once again, on this special day I was able to reflect on the goodness and love of God in my life. It's in times and seasons like this, that I really treasure my love ones and members of the church as we learnt to show appreciation and love for one another in a really warmth manner. Thank God for surrounding me with His unfailing love and mercy. Yesterday was one session in my life journey that I really enjoyed and cherished!
Of course, I ended the night with unwrapping the gifts that I received throughout the entire day!
